We have extended our operations with the introduction of our new lamination presses, allowing us to improve consistency and quality whilst increasing output and efficiency.

Electrical Steel Laminations are constituent parts of every electric motor and generator. These are produced either by laser cutting or high-speed stamping techniques from electrical steel. These specially coated steels range in thickness from 0.10mm to 1mm, dependant on the application.

We supply OEMs and the repair sectors of the electric motor and generator markets in the UK and across our global customer base. We have extended our operations with the introduction of our new lamination presses, allowing us to improve consistency and quality whilst increasing output and efficiency.

The dedicated team of engineers in Coleherne’s lamination division have over 50 years of expertise in the manufacture of laminations for rotors and stators. These engineers can help you through the initial design stage to the delivery of assembled stacks.

Capabilities

Our capabilities include laser cutting, stamping, notching or any combination of these methods to offer the optimum solution for the manufacture of electrical steel laminations from standard applications to more bespoke projects:

  • We offer solutions for pole, field and armature formats

  • Our in-house press tool design is available to support the end-user with 3D modelling and CAD-CAM software

  • We can supply a single prototype through to full production in low-to-mid volumes

  • We offer a wide range of electrical grades to EN10106

  • We will ensure that you get the right magnetic properties to suit your application and therefore maximising the performance of your machine

Our electrical steel laminations support a wide variety of engineering sectors and wide range of varying applications:

Precisely Accurate

Our process allows us to create incredibly thin (from 0.1mm / 0.004”) non-oriented electrical steel laminations and the finest detail (down to +/- 0.05mm / 0.002”)

Punched laminations allow for high quality and repeatability – crucial for the assembly of stator and rotor cores.

 

Measurement of Magnetic Properties of Laminations to the highest of standards

  • Ensuring material grades are correct is crucial for motor/generator repairs to keep efficiency and performing to requirements.

  • We are able to use our in-house testing facilities to advise what the material/lamination supplied rates at with regards to watt losses.

  • We can then offer based on these requirements or work with you to advise a better/more efficient material accordingly.

  • Once we have found the correct material for your application, we can move to manufacture and advise how best to proceed to ensure your deadlines, cost requirements and quality needs are met.


 

Unsurpassed Output Levels

Two Dedicated Production Sites

We have one workshop for low volume laser cut parts and one workshop equipped with mid to high volume punch presses that ensures that our unsurpassed output levels are competitive on price too. These two inter-connected processes allow us to deliver bespoke smaller quantity batches and meet high volume repeat business.
